An Open Letter from the Founder
"The foundation was created with one simple goal: to make a meaningful difference in the community that I care so deeply about. I didn't want to repeat what others were doing, so I set out to go where no other foundation was going. The contributions should have an unique impact and to do that I decided to pursue my longtime passion of assisting those families facing the immediate loss of a loved one. At one point the State of Kansas provided a benefit of $550 to those qualifying as "in need" however, drastic cuts to the State's budget meant there have been no funds available since 2010.
The funeral business has played a key role in shaping who I have become. As such, I have always paid special attention to helping non-profits and other groups that nurture and promote this community and aid our vulnerable residents. The community of Wellington will always be a priority and focus of this foundation, but as we become ever more interconnected and the borders of community are no longer restricted by latitude and longitude our foundation will reach beyond our own backyard and include the communities of Argonia, Mayfield, Oxford, Rome and South Haven. This allows each and every contribution to truly help our friends and neighbors.
Frank Funeral Home and Cornejo Funeral Home will serve these families, but we as community members must not forget to help the hurting at such a sorrowful time. I have a strong, personal interest in making a way to support these families when it matters most. Please contribute to the Bryce Day Memorial Foundation today and help us move our friends and family from Hurt to Hope."
